The Glock 45 is a compact crossover pistol with the compact slide and barrel length of the Glock 19X mated to the full-size grip of the Glock 17. The gun was introduced in 2018. It features a Gen5 Glock Marksman Barrel for enhanced accuracy. It also includes a new visibly and palpably loaded chamber indicator.
Ambidextrous Slide Release
The ambidextrous slide release allows left-handed shooters to more easily manipulate the handgun’s controls. This feature is especially useful when reloading a gun in high-stress situations where fractions of a second matter.
The right side bracket includes a center member comprising a pivot pin and an activation tab. An outer member with a passage defined to accommodate the pivot pin fits over and engages the first end of the interlock structure.
A tension spring fits through the passage to urge the pivot pin along the inner surface of the outer member and the second end of the interlock structure. A push by the thumb of the left-handed or right-handed shooter moves the activation tabs downward in the forward position to disengage the interlock.
Forward Cocking Serrations
Front slide serrations are a welcome feature on the Glock 45. Racking from the front is a lot easier on the hands than from the rear.
The front slide serrations are a good functional design feature that may help prevent slide bite, especially with hard-cast bullets. Glock also includes a loaded chamber indicator on the slide for tactile confirmation that a round is in the chamber.
The pistol features a Glock Marksman barrel and a shortened 102 mm length that allows it to fit in Glock 19 holsters. The new nDLC finish on the slide is a little slicker than previous Gen 5 slide treatments, but it still offers a great deal of durability and corrosion resistance.
Swappable Backstraps
The Glock 45 is a great choice for officers who need a full-size duty pistol but have to do undercover or plain clothes work. It has a bigger grip that allows for more ammo capacity and better control. This model also has a beavertail backstrap that eliminates slide bite.
Easily upgrade the Glock 45 with the massive aftermarket world of Glock accessories. From optic-height sights to flared mag wells, the options are endless.
It has all of the Gen 5 features such as the ambidextrous slide release, enhanced texture for sure handling, and reversible magazine release. It also has front serrations and the new hard-surface nDLC finish in non-reflective black.
Modular Backstrap System
The Glock 45 is a compact crossover pistol that combines a Glock 19 slide and a Glock 17 frame assembly. It has a mini red-dot sight combat optic mounting system on the slide.
The grip has a rough textured surface that enhances handling and is designed to keep traction even with wet or sweaty hands. It also has ambidextrous magazine catch and slide stop levers and the Modular Backstrap System for individual adjustability.
Like all Glocks, the 45 MOS features the Safe Action system with three passive independently operating mechanical safeties built into the fire control system. It also incorporates the front serrations that are precision-milled forward of the ejection port on both sides.
Reversible Magazine Release
The G45 has a reversible magazine release button that allows the operator to manipulate the mag change without releasing the trigger. This is a great feature for those who need to quickly switch magazines in a stressful situation.
The gun also has the same Gen 5 upgrades that most Glock fans have come to expect including the improved grip texture, ambidextrous slide stop lever, Modular Beavertail Backstrap System for individual adjustability and front serrations that allow for a press check of the chamber. More Words
The Glock 45 is optics-ready and features the company’s patented Modular Optic System(link is external) machined into the slide in front of the rear sight. It accepts interchangeable plates for popular micro-red dot sights from EOTech, Docter, Insight and Trijicon.
Unlike some other law enforcement sidearms, the Glock’s front cocking serrations are visible and palpable, even when the pistol is empty. This is a feature that’s important for law enforcement officers who have to deal with high-speed firing in tight situations. Otherwise, the Glock 45 is essentially a Gen 5 pistol with a few slight enhancements. This includes a new matte black nDLC finish, ambidextrous controls and a partially preloaded safe action trigger.
